In the race to innovate financial infrastructure, many early-stage companies delay focusing on sustainability. At Axiology, we do it differently. We believe that long-term success (and long-term value) depends on building responsibly from day one.

That’s why we underwent a formal ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) assessment with The Disruption House (TDH). Their framework spans 24 topic areas, from carbon tracking to board diversity, and benchmarks companies against their peers.

The outcome? Axiology has earned TDH’s Builder badge, a recognition for companies that not only plan for sustainability, but have already taken active steps to embed it into their operations.

ESG Strategy and Assessment at Axiology

For many startups, ESG is treated as a ‘later’ priority. But postponing sustainability work often results in higher financial, operational, and reputational costs down the line. We’ve taken a different path: building with intention from the start.

That decision aligns with our broader mission to shape the future of capital markets through resilient, transparent systems, like those enabled under the EU DLT Pilot Regime.

Axiology’s infrastructure is powered by distributed ledger technology (DLT), specifically the XRP Ledger (XRPL), which uses a highly energy-efficient consensus mechanism. Unlike proof-of-work blockchains, XRPL doesn’t require mining and can process transactions using a fraction of the energy, just 0.0079 kWh per transaction. This enables our DLT TSS  (Trading and Settlement System) to operate with significantly lower environmental impact than legacy financial infrastructure.

Axiology’s Sustainability Scores Briefly

Environmental: 36% We’re early in our environmental strategy, but we’ve started laying the groundwork. Our operations run on renewable energy, and we’ve begun tracking our emissions with the aim of achieving carbon neutrality. This score reflects the initial steps of a company aligning its infrastructure decisions with long-term environmental goals.

Social: 62% We actively support individual learning of the employees as well as their participation in professional development. Our ESG score acknowledges this internal culture of growth and care.

Governance: 58% We’ve implemented key governance practices, including third-party certifications like ISO 27001, and maintain clear internal policies on ethical conduct, data protection, and compliance. Axiology has both an internal AML Officer and Chief Compliance Officer, ensuring accountability is built into our operations.

Axiology beyond the ESG scores

The TDH model makes clear that ESG scoring isn’t about pass or fail. It’s about maturity. As a company still scaling, our scores reflect our stage, not our intent. We’re proud to have a structured strategy in place, and we’re committed to revisiting and improving these scores in line with our growth.
