The process of equity accounting is becoming faster, simpler, and more cost-efficient. Capital markets infrastructure provider Axiology has introduced the first system in Northern Europe that allows companies to manage their equity registers and transactions using distributed ledger technology (DLT).
Businesses Cut Costs as Axiology’s DLT Platform Goes Live
The product was first presented at this year’s Startup Fair event, within just two weeks of its launch, five SMEs had already transitioned to DLT-based equity accounting. Initial results show a significant reduction in administrative burden and costs. Processes that previously required notarisation and took up to several weeks can now be completed in just one or two days using Axiology’s technology.
“Axiology’s solution enables equity accounting and transfer registration to take place in a secure, regulated environment, substantially reducing the time required. This is particularly relevant for startups and businesses preparing for further investment rounds,” says Virgilijus Vaiškūnas, Head of Operations at Axiology.
According to him, for many companies, maintaining equity registers has traditionally involved extensive manual work, high time costs and persistent uncertainty.
“Our goal is to allow companies to focus on growth rather than administrative processes. The new system brings clarity, ensures traceability, and eliminates redundant procedures,” adds Marius Jurgilas, Co-founder and CEO of Axiology.
Innovation Backed by Regulation
Earlier this summer, Axiology secured a financial brokerage licence and a special permit to operate a DLT-based trading and settlement system. The Bank of Lithuania granted the licence under the EU DLT Pilot Regime — making Axiology only the second entity in Europe to receive such approval.
The new licence opens the door to a broader range of DLT applications beyond equity accounting. This autumn, the conservative-risk investment platform Letsinvest used Axiology's infrastructure to launch a new bond investment project for its users. Through this integration, Letsinvest investors can now invest via the platform not only by funding loans but also by purchasing corporate debt securities. This partnership reduces the traditional costs of issuance and distribution for businesses by over 40 per cent, while giving investors faster and more convenient access to bonds.
Building the Future of Digital Ownership
Axiology aims to make DLT technology a standard tool for corporate ownership management across Europe, providing advantages in efficiency, transparency, and faster capital raising. The system has the potential to transform how both startups and established enterprises manage their equity accounting processes.
